ILLAWARRA rock outfit Through the Eyes of Eve are on the cusp of international fame and fortune after winning a United States-based talent quest.
The band's five members will be flown to San Diego early in the new year to take part in the Bands of the World tour, organised and funded by Californian company Avalon. The band earned their spot on the 30-day tour by virtue of an internet voting system based on the popular website www.myspace.com."Four international bands were chosen, as well as four bands from the US," guitarist Matt Rankin said."We will all live together in a warehouse and play on alternate nights."Describing his outfit's sound as "heavy melodic", Rankin was hopeful the US adventure could turn into a launching pad for a successful career."We're just looking at it as a great opportunity to represent Australia," he said."It only takes the right person to notice us. This is what we love doing and if we can end up playing music full-time it would be awesome. That's the ultimate for us."The band will play at the Oxford Tavern on Friday night.
